On 24 November 205, Prof. Mona Motakef and a team of authors invite you to the presentation of their new monograph at Humboldt University in Berlin.

In the book, Julia Teschlade, Mona Motakef and Christine Wimbauer use qualitative family interviews to provide
insights into the everyday lives of LGBTQ+ families: How do they realise
their desire to have children? How do they shape their family life? What
legal and social barriers do they face in doing so?
The authors show that LGBTQ+ families draw on heterosexual family norms, but at the same time expand them.
Through their everyday struggles for recognition, they shape and
change what family and parenthood mean today – and what they
may mean in the future.

The book is available  here in Open Access.

Dr Lucy Chebout will comment on the book and – moderated by
Prof. Dr Silvia von Steinsdorff – discuss it with Julia Teschlade,
Mona Motakef and Christine Wimbauer.

Afterwards, the authors would like to chat with you over a drink and celebrate the publication of the book
together.

Time: 24 November 2025, 6–8 p.m.
Place: Humboldt University of Berlin, Faculty of Law, Bebelplatz, UL9, Room E25
and online

Further Information and registration here (in german).
