https://www.campus.de/e-books/wissenschaft/auf_dem_weg_zur_normalitaet-18841.html (in german)
in cooperation with the Network for Women's and Gender Studies in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Time and Place: 11 May, 2026, 6:00–7:30 p.m., Alte Feuerwache, Cologne
How do queer families live today—between a new normal and intensified discrimination? Despite “marriage for all” and the Self-Determination Act, legal loopholes, structural barriers, and hostility from the right continue to shape their daily lives. We will discuss how LGBTQ+ families experience this reality—and how family can be reimagined and reshaped in a way that is based on solidarity, diversity, and beyond traditional notions.
Following the book presentation by Julia Teschlade, Mona Motakef, and Christine Wimbauer, Susanne Völker (University of Cologne) as well as Charlotte Dionisius and Ines-Paul Baumann (rubicon Cologne) will provide insights, moderated by Diana Lengersdorf (University of Bielefeld), and we will engage in a discussion with the interested public.
