Abstracts for presentations for the conference “Genders of the Social: Dialogues on the Locations and Perspectives of Sociological Theories” are requested by October 10, 2025.

Under the motto “Genders of the Social: Dialogues on the Locations and Perspectives of Sociological Theories,” the joint spring conference of the “Women's and Gender Studies” and “Sociological Theory” sections of the German Sociological Association (DGS) will take place on March 12 and 13, 2026, at TU Dortmund University.

The conference aims to stimulate mutual irritation to a greater extent than has often been the case in the past: general sociological theory and the findings of gender studies, as well as core topics of feminist theories, are to enter into a productive, critical, and controversial dialogue. The conference thus aims to challenge the separation between general social theory, sociological theory, and social theory on the one hand, and “special” gender studies and feminist, queer-feminist, and intersectional theory on the other.

The sections welcome abstracts for presentation proposals of no more than one page in length by October 10, 2025, to: k.hoppeem.uni-frankfurtde
