Digital event on the long-term consequences of COVID-19
Prof. Dr. Mona Motakef speaks at an event organized by the Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg occupational disease advice centres.
On 5.11.2024, the Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg occupational disease advice centers are holding a digital workshop on the long-term consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic entitled “Sick at work - what to do?”.
Prof. Dr. Mona Motakef will give an input together with Prof. Dr. Christine Wimbauer, Franziska Jahn and Nadja Kufner.
“In the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, numerous employees have fallen ill with coronavirus at work. In total, well over half a million insured persons have reported their suspicion of a corresponding occupational disease or accident to the statutory accident insurance since 2020. Some of those affected have now been recognized by the employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund. But for many of those affected, this is not the end of the story. They are still suffering from the long-term consequences of their COVID-19 illness and are still not fully reintegrated into work and social life. The social consequences are immense and those affected often remain alone.
How do those affected get the treatment they need to recover? What are the social consequences of the long-term effects of COVID-19? What effective rehabilitation and treatment options are there? How is the reduction in earning capacity (MdE) determined and what do insured persons need to bear in mind? How can those affected receive a compensation pension? [...] The event is aimed at insured persons and their relatives, employees, works and staff councils and other employee representatives, such as representatives for severely disabled persons and women, trade union representatives, managers, occupational safety specialists, company doctors, health managers and anyone interested in the topic.”
